– Join striking fast food workers from stores across Philadelphia as they join the GLOBAL movement to get $15/hr and a union. Philly will have its first ever fast food walkout!
McDonald’s, Burger King, Popeye’s, Subway, KFC, Wendy’s, Dunkin’ Donuts, and all the rest are not paying fair wages! They need to hear from workers and all of us that workers deserve $15/hr and a union.
The national fast food worker movement started in 2012 in New York, and it has exploded from there, reaching over 100 cities in the US and now going WORLD-WIDE. On May 15, workers in 33 countries on six continents will hold protests at McDonald’s, Burger King, KFC, and other outlets, calling for higher pay and an end to abusive employment practices.
The movement is challenging fast-food companies’ outdated notion that their workers are teenagers looking for pocket change. Today’s workers are mothers and fathers struggling to raise children on wages that are too low. And they’re showing the industry that if it doesn’t raise pay, it will continue to be at the center of the national debate on what’s wrong with our economy.
Join fast food workers May 15! And let us know if you want to help us the next day as we join strikers returning to work, making sure their bosses treat them fairly and respectfully. Message us or write info@fightforphilly.org if you can help!
