IWAP Mission

Created in 2013, Injured Workers Advocacy Program/IWAP is a non-profit 501c3 organization, comprised of a board of directors of 20 + Philadelphia area union leaders, activists and representatives, that provides resources, programs and advocates on behalf of injured workers throughout the Philadelphia union community.

IWAP PRIMARY MISSION/OBJECTIVES

  • Providing Programs, Resources and Advocacy To Those Suffering Work Related Injuries
  • Impacting Injured Workers Legislation
  • Injured Workers Education, Advocacy and information Source and Hub for Labor
  • Communication Liaison between Organized Labor Community and Injured Workers Industry
  • Impacting Industry Standards for Injured Workers Benefits

IWAP Programs Include:

IWAP Point of Injury Addiction Prevention Program, A program that provides resources and advocacy support for workers suffering job related injuries starting at the point of injury and continuing throughout the entire course of their injury that includes addiction prevention protocols to help ensure injured workers do not suffer the devastating effects of opioid addiction as a result of a work injury which too often occurs as a result..

Medical Advocacy Initiative – Advocating to medical professionals/providers for safe methods of medical treatment in relation to addiction prevention for both acute/long term chronic work injuries
Point Of Injury Job Steward Certification Program – Educating/Training Job Stewards on the protocols and standards necessary to protect their co-workers in case of work related injury

Labor Cares Addiction PSA/Media Campaign – A Joint Venture and Public Awareness Campaign Between IWAP and Philadelphia Area Labor Leaders That Features Public Service Announcements On the Issue of Addiction Airing On Major Market Philadelphia Media Channels.

IWAP Legislative Initiative – Address and combate legislation that negatively impacts injured workers.

Pros4Heroes Campaign – A Campaign Uniting Professional Athletes and Labor Leaders For The Purpose of Combating Addiction And The Opioid Epidemic On The Front Lines For Veterans, Union Members, First Responders and Communities In Need!

ANTI-Addiction/Anti-OPIOID Campaign – (IWAP) also advocates to medical professionals for anti-opioid safe treatment methods in order to stop the cycle of addiction incurred by injured workers suffering from both acute and chronic injuries.
