– Odd year elections in Pennsylvania are notoriously low turnout, in spite of the very real consequences of the outcomes of these contests. In these years we elect our judges; our township, borough, city, and county officials; and members of school board.
These are the individuals who will set the budgets for our schools, who are responsible for hundreds of municipal pension plans across the commonwealth, who sit across the table when our public employees are negotiating their contracts, and who are currently hearing cases on voting rights, marriage equality, and dozens of other issues which directly impact the lives of our members across Pennsylvania.
It is during these low turnout elections that your voice can be heard the loudest. If you commit to vote on Tuesday, and if you commit to remind your family, friends, and coworkers why it is important for them to vote as well, then you can affect real change in your communities that will result in fairer treatment for all workers.
Please tell your friends and family to vote on Tuesday! And Remember, There’s NO Photo ID Required to Vote in Pa!
