Pres. Bloomingdale And Sec-Treas Snyder Thank Our Labor 2014 Volunteers For Helping Governor-Elect Tom Wolf On His Historic Victory

From The PA. AFL-CIO

– President Bloomingdale and Secretary-Treasurer Snyder express their deepest gratitude and appreciation to the thousands of union volunteers across Pennsylvania who spent many evenings and weekends helping educate and mobilize working families in a history making victory for Governor-elect Tom Wolf and on behalf of all of our endorsed candidates.

“Tom Wolf’s historic victory is shared by millions of working men and women across Pennsylvania. We look forward to working with the new administration to chart a course for Pennsylvania that is built upon respect for working people and respect for the value and dignity of the work they do,” President Bloomingdale said.

“By no means is this the end to the challenges we face but some of the worst threats we have faced will recede for the time being giving us the opportunity to pursue a pro-active legislative strategy of raising incomes protecting pensions and improving living standards for working families. All of these goals will require our continued focus, resolve, and effort,” President Bloomingdale said.

Secretary-Treasurer Snyder credited our Labor 2014 Member to Member Program as the best in America thanks to the hard work of thousands of volunteers who made the phone calls, did the door knocks, and distributed the flyers at their work-sites.

“We have the latest and most advanced voter targeting technologies but it is meaningless without the thousands of volunteers across Pennsylvania that deliver the message about the issues and the candidates,” Snyder said.

A Letter From Dennis Pagliotti: Delco GOP Takes 1.5 Million Dollars from Organized Labor, Yet Remains Quiet When Mc-Garrigle Negatively Refers to Leadership As Union Bosses?

– Desperate times have called for desperate measures and that’s what the GOP of Delaware
County (Delco GOP) has brought to the 26th Legislative District of Pennsylvania with their
smear campaign of respected Union Leader, John Kane.!

As President and Business Manager of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 1 PA/DE, I
continuously honor commitments to my membership to support political parties and candidates
that have the best interests of area workers at heart, regardless of party affiliation. The bottom
line is we support those that ultimately provide a better standard of living for the middle class.

Over the past couple of years, the Delco GOP has accepted over 1.5 million dollars from OrganizedLabor. It’s ironic, that these same unions are now being unjustly attacked, and the same Union Leadership that has supported these parties and candidates is being negatively referred to as “Union Bosses” by Tom McGarrigle and the Delco GOP.

The recent attacks by Tom McGarrigle against John Kane, PA State Senate candidate, and the
Labor Union Movement in general, are unwarranted, untruthful and downright despicable. After
decades of Republican leadership in Delaware County, the GOP has succumbed to sleaze tactics
when facing a strong Democratic challenger. What does this say about our “Labor-friendly”
GOP politicians of Delaware County? What does it say when not one Republican politician in
Delco has stood up to defend Organized Labor? Instead, the Delaware County Republican
Leadership has been silent rather than denouncing McGarrigle and his obviously negative campaign tactics.

John Kane has been a trusted colleague of mine for many years. I have witnessed the challenges
he has faced as a journeyman plumber, as a ader of Plumbers Union Local 690, and
now as a candidate for PA State Senate. He’s accepted this challenge because he knows it is
the right thing to do for working people throughout Delaware County. John has the courage and
passion to be your voice in Harrisburg. He will show up for the working people of Delaware
County; I hope the 26th District will show up for him on November 4th.
